
1646 The "Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France" transfers the domain to Sieur de Montmagny, then governor of the Rivière du Sud (South River), along with one league (4km) of land along the St-Lawrence up-river.
1655 All of the Seigneurial rights are acquired by Louis Couillard de l'Espinay. He became the first "Seigneur" of this vast domain. He ordered the erection of the manor, a stone structure measuring 24 feet by 40 feet and its outbuildings.
1759 The St-Lawrence countryside is devastated by the British and the first "Rivière du Sud" manor is burnt down. Then, the successors of the Old Regime seigniors continued to live in temporary homes.
1812-1813 A Quebec City doctor, Antoine Gaspard Couillard, inherits the Espinay domain which had been bought by his ancestor, Jacques Thomas Tachereau. He then proceeds to rebuild the manor on the foundations of the previous one and he had to part with some of the land in order to meet the inoccured heavy expenses.
The twentieth Century...
In the year 1900, Mr. Maurice Rousseau, lawyer, purchases the Manor from the land bank and occupies the premises until his death, in 1933. Mr. Henri Boulet acquires the property in 1953 and converts it into the "Manoir des Érables.
1975 The Cyr family becomes the new owner of the manor and introduces a fine cuisine quebecoise deserving four stars. The Manoir des Érables , a Deluxe Inn and historical landmark, has a dining-room, three very personalized suites, four confortable bedrooms, conference rooms and for maximum relaxation, a small lounge which adds to the charm of this old abode.
Since 1982, the family Cyr's savoir-faire has been incremental in its admission into the prestigious Relais & Châteaux network, until 1992.
1990 The Cyr family acquires the Pavillon Collin, ancestral home built in 1865 by the Price-Brother Co., a long time major enterprise in the region. This home was used exclusively by the company's guests and, today, one can discover three suites and five rooms. This dwelling has been carefully converted in order to offer our guests all the modern comfort, while retaining the character and warmth of a large period family house.
1993 The family manor is acquired by Jean Cyr who adds exciting adventure packages such as: dogsledding, golf, cycling, Grosse-Île cruises and many more.
1995 Martin Boucher becomes executive chef at the Manoir des Érables. His cuisine reflects the local products and varies with the seasons and supplies. What's more, for the consecutive years, between 1995 and 1998, the Manoir has been granted the "Lauréat régional des Grands Prix du Tourisme du Québec for its cuisine.
2000 For the consecutive years, between 2000 and 2003, the Manoir has been granted the "Lauréat national des Grands Prix du Tourisme du Québec for its cuisine. The Manoir was named Gold Laureate at the national level in 2002. The Manoir was named Silver Laureate at the national level in 2003.
2011 The Cyr family is no longer the owner of the Manoir. Mr Guy St-Jean and Mr Luc Lortie bought the Manoir des Érables to developp what was already their and also to promote the 200 anniversery of 2014.
